| Houston Astrodome |
|
Built in 1964, "the Astrodome" was the first "domed" ballpark in the world, with a dome roof over the playing field. A neat concept, there were a number of problems such as ceiling panes light making it hard to see fly balls and dead grass (hence the introduction of "AstroTurf"). By 2003, showing it's age, the Astrodome had no major tenants. The last major use of the Astrodome was during the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster it became a temporary home to 25,000 evacuees. Although some want the Astrodome torn down, this is a must see while it is still standing. |
