About New York City | Manhattan
Manhattan is a borough of New York City and is reknown worldwide for its cultural, financial, architectural and commercial influence. With its close proximity to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Wall Street, Manhattan is the largest Central Business District in the US. In addition to being a financial power center, it is also rich with culture, famous landmarks and tourist attractions. The islands of Manhattan include: Randall Island; Ward’s Island; Roosevelt Island; Ellis Island; Governors Island; and Liberty Island which is home to the well-known National Monument, The Statue of Liberty.
This area has found itself with regained strength and energy after the events of September 11, 2001. These attacks did not cause residents to leave the area. Rather, residents were determined to rebuild the city and return it to its great glory.
