Dallas Golf Courses and Clubs

Dallas is home to many golfing opportunities, from exclusive professional clubs to public family courses. Here is a sampling of a few of Dallas's best.

Coyote Ridge Golf Club

1680 Bandera Dr., Carrollton TX 75010
Coyote Ridge, just 20 minutes from either downtown Dallas or Dallas-Ft. Worth airport, offers a front nine and a back nine in opposite topographical surroundings. The front is hilly, open, and dotted with water and bunkers, the back cuts sharply through an old gravel quarry turned garden, intersected twice by Coyote Creek. Green fees run from $30-$62.

Keeton Park Golf Course

This popular David Bennett designed Dallas track sees lots of play, but is still considered one Dallas' best-kept secrets. Water comes into play on 15 holes and the course has a tendency to play very narrowly. Keeton Park comes in just over 6,500 yards, and the green fees stay in the low $12-$20 range.

Stevens Park Golf Course

The oldest metropolitan course in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, Stevens Park opened its links in 1922. The course is surrounded by some Dallas' more exclusive neighborhoods, and offers up views of the downtown skyline. This Dallas golf course plays to just a hair over 6,000 yards, but presents it's fair share of challenges to even the lowest handicapper in the group. It shouldn't cost more than $30 with a cart and can be crowded on the weekends.

Tangleridge Golf Club

Tangleridge opened in 1995, the design of Texas course architect Jeff Brauer. This Dallas area golf course is a par-72 playing to 6,835 yards. The layout works with the hilly country and water comes prominently into play. Perennially ranked among the top 20 public courses in Texas, Tangleridge is about 30 minutes outside of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Green fees run from $29-$49.

Tenison Park Golf Courses

The Tenison Glen course (par-72, 6,605 yards) is the second oldest public course in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and offers up plenty of history. Tough for a municipal track, the Tenison Park Golf Courses just underwent a facelift. The Highlands Course, formerly the Tenison West course, was opened to the public in 2000 after a complete rebuild by architects D.A. Weibring and Steve Wolford. Numerous lakes and bunkers were added, as well as new greens. It's still got a little maturing to undergo, but it's the newest thing in golf in and around Dallas. The green fees are in the $16-$21 range on the Glen course and in the $36-$42 range on the Highlands.

Texas Star Golf Course - Dallas.com Editor's Pick

The highest rated golf course in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, this Dallas area golf course received a Golf Digest four-star 'places to play' rating in addition to being among Texas state's top ten golf courses. The par-71, 7,001 yard course is built around Hurricane Creek and features native flora and fauna unique to the region. Opened in 1997, the course is in immaculate shape. Texas Star is only six miles outside Dallas, and features "the toughest darn greens in all North Texas."
